JOB PURPOSE
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Senior Technical Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance and performance of
assigned vessels. This role oversees technical operations, compliance with regulatory requirements and cost-effective
management of vessel maintenance and repair.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational at all times minimizing downtime through effective planning
and execution of maintenance activities.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair and performance of all machinery and equipment onboard.
• Plan and manage scheduled dry-docking and other maintenance projects within budget and timeline.
• Ensure vessels comply with all statutory and class requirements including inspections and certifications.
• Maintain up-to-date records for audits and inspections by regulatory bodies.
• Prepare, manage and monitor the technical operating budgets of assigned vessels.
• Control costs while ensuring high standards of safety and performance.
• Provide technical guidance to the vessel’s crew to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Support the training and development of onboard engineers.
• Investigate and report technical incidents or breakdowns ensuring timely corrective actions.
• Recommend preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
• Coordinate with procurement teams for the timely supply of spare parts and consumables.
• Manage critical spares inventory to prevent operational disruptions.
• Act as a liaison between vessel crews, regulatory authorities, vendors and internal departments.
• Provide regular updates and reports to management on vessel performance and technical issues.
• Lead and execute technical projects including retrofits and upgrades ensuring adherence to specifications and
deadlines.
• Identify and implement technical and operational improvements to enhance vessel efficiency and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or any related fields.
• Class 1 or Class 2 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued by a recognized maritime authority (preferred).
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 3–5 years of sea-going experience preferably as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.
• Relevant experience in a technical, engineering or vessel management role within the oil and gas industry demonstrating a strong ability to manage vessel maintenance, dry-docking and ensure compliance with industry standards.
