Key ACCOUNTABILITY

Key tasks and duties are outlined below:         

  1. Responsible when serving project (Offshore/ Onshore Worksite), including but not limited to:
  • To assist Geotechnical Drilling Supervisor or Party Chief and perform in carrying out offshore/onshore/nearshore soil sample testing includes in-situ testing operation of onshore and nearshore soil investigation work in accordance with client’s specification.
  • Assist Geotechnical Engineer for quality control of soil sampling and testing during drilling.
  • Prepare and compile field data such as soil description, field log and laboratory test raw data and plot results. To provide technical input to the overall execution of projects from mobilization to demobilization including marine operation
  • Assist Geotechnical Engineer to supervise drilling crew during sampling in accordance with scope of work.
  • Assist Geotechnical Engineer for site logistic and communication with local authorities.
  • Arrange samples handling and transportation from site or vessel to designated laboratory.
  • Conduct regular service, maintenance, and inventory update and ensure good working condition for laboratory and in-situ testing equipment and spare parts.
  • Assist Lead Engineer to ensure submission of reports and plans to respective clients in a timely and safe manner.
  • Assist Lead Engineer/Geotechnical Engineer in preparing reports and safe deliverance.
  • Provide general assistance to ensure that the Engineering Centre is in conducive state and in operational condition.
  • To perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner in accordance to Company’s HSE, Operation, and other related policy procedure and guidelines and ensure same to subordinates.
  • To perform other duties as and when required by the company.
  • Strictly adhere to the principle of trust, integrity and confidentiality.
  1. Responsible when not serving project (at Office), including but not limited to:
  • Assist Lead Engineer /Project Manager in preparation of lab procedures.
  • To co-ordinate activity with other members of the operations team in a mutually helpful way.
  • To check on the lab inventory system to ensure that all equipment functioning and maintained properly.
  • Communicating with drilling supervisor and Party Chief about lab issues that arise during drilling operations.
  • To participate on the lab testing events and lesson learn that arise during drilling operation.
  • Plan ahead with Drilling Supervisor for required equipment, material and service required to avoid any operational delay by providing a 7 day look ahead plan.
  • To carry out minor and major repairs, preventive and routine maintenance on all drilling equipment at specified warehouse within Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia as and when required by Company.
  • To work ad-hoc as and when required by Company to be at office or at specific warehouse/yard for equipment inventory checks.

Key QHSE tasks and duties are summaries below:

  • Report quality related problems and HSE hazards or deficits within their area to the QHSE Department
  • Promote and take part in the QHSE continuous improvement process.
  • Abide by both company and client rules and instruction at all time, except where to do so would constitute a hazard/ threat to personnel or equipment.
  • Support, promote and participate in all Company related program and action plans in relation to ISO, HSE Management System and other program.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE guidelines and regulations in addition to promoting safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complying with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Part VI General Duties Of Employees of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (ACT 514) & Regulations and Orders as follow:
  1. To take reasonable care of the safety and health of himself and of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omission at work.
  2. To co-operate with  his  employer  or  any  person  in  the  discharge  of  any duty or requirement imposed on the employer or that order person by his Act or any regulation made thereunder.
  3. To wear or always use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer for the purpose of preventing risks to his safety and health.
  4. To comply  with  any  instruction  or  measure  on  occupational  safety  and health instituted by his employer or any other person by or under this act or any regulation made there under.
  • To inform  any  danger  or  risk  or  hazard  related  safety  and  health  and  act appropriately.
  • To co-operate  with  employer,  making  sure  you  get  proper  training, understand, and follow the company's health and safety policies.
  • Not to interfere with or misuse anything that's been provided for your health, safety, or welfare.
  • To report any injuries, strains, or illnesses you suffer because of doing the job.
  • To directly involve with safety and health program to maintain safety culture in organization.

Qualifications / Certifications:

  • SPM or O’level or Certificate with relevant years of experience.
  • Preferably Diploma in Civil Engineering

Relevant Experience:

Minimum of five (5-7) years working experience as laboratory technician, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
