Overview

The position will run all aspects of compliance program for Sapura Energy Berhad Group of Companies. This includes prevention, detection, mitigation and corrective action. The role will report to the General Governance Counsel of Sapura Energy Berhad. The role will engage business stakeholder and managers at all levels of the organisation to influence culture and ensure an environment that fosters open reporting and compliance.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, Ethics, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a senior compliance or ethics role, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Prior experience working with or for SPRM (Suruhanjaya Pencegahan Rasuah Malaysia) or similar anti-corruption agencies will be highly regarded
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of working experience, whereby five (5) years is in a managerial capacity in the field of Compliance, Risk, Integrity, and Governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding the business, organisation, relevant industry regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the implementation of the compliance framework and identifying and raising gaps for remediation as needed.
  • Create, update, and enforce company-wide integrity and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all employees are educated about and adhere to these policies.
  • Lead efforts to prevent organisational corruption, including bribery and unethical business practices.
  • Establish controls and processes to detect and report potential corrupt activities.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update a comprehensive Code of Business Ethics that reflects the company's values and commitment to ethical conduct.
  • Promote adherence to the code throughout the organisation.
  • Establish a system for monitoring and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance risks.
  • Identify potential integrity and compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide guidance on risk management to senior leadership.
  • Support the execution of commercial focused compliance, including third party due diligence and approvals, compliance training, and compliance monitoring/auditing.
  • Provide support and expertise in governance including personal data protection and whistle-blowing matters.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of compliance campaigns, training sessions and communications throughout the Group.
  • Own compliance risk assessments, as well as development and implementation of mitigation plans.
  • Project site visits on an as needed basis to support the implementation of compliance culture, processes, and controls at the site.
