JOB PURPOSE
The post holder is responsible for moorings analysis, naval architecture and structural engineering, and responsible for all issues related to naval and structural engineering in operations, shipyard works, and marketing technical input.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
For all:
Knowing, improving, driving and enforcing the Company rules as published in TMS
Maintaining full compliance with mandatory training requirements, including Code of Conduct related
Position specific:
Assist Marine Manager and GM Asset Management as required.
Support marketing activities from perspective of rig’s marine operability and provide disciplinary technical input to bidding contract
Review and plan all pre-analysis Anchor Pattern in consultation with Marine Manager review before submission for Mooring Analysis.
Identify, recommend and verify technical studies in cooperation with operations and vendors. Conduct in-house technical design and studies with engineering tools as necessary. Typical studies include motion, lifting, mooring, structural analysis, etc.
Provide operational/technical advice on marine operation including mooring gear makeup, mooring operation, heavy lifting operation, towing, etc.
Assist to develop marine procedure. Advise on operational environment for specific operation
Review and approve rig’s change requests applicable to own discipline according to the change request directive (TMOC).
Develop relevant procedures (TMS) within the area of responsibility
Ensure that latest legislative requirements are reviewed and evaluated. Potential impact to rig fleet shall be reported to line management. Follow up of regulatory and technology development.
Ensure compliance towards company directives and procedures. Execute role in the technical change control process
Update marine operation manual (MOM) if there is change required. Assist to track lightship weight change in implementing modification. Assist in on-board stability program installation, loading condition updates and ballasting procedures development
Develop technical specifications and technical solutions for larger modifications or upgrades of hull structure and DES components
Develop and maintain technical content of frame agreements with vendors and specialist consultants. Manage third party engineering vendors and cost & quality control of engineering service.
Cooperate with project team to develop and implement engineering solutions for structural repair and maintenance
Investigate marine incident caused damage and support loss insurance claims
Carry out Periodical Stacked Rig Inspections as planned by Marine Manager
Assist during Rig Reactivations as required by Marine Manager
Liaise with Class and Flag authorities on issues within the area of responsibility and as required by the Marine Department.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
Preferably a Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture / Structure Engineer with strong technical background.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferably Shipyard experience on MODU related design and site construction.
Experience on typical marine operation engineering (anchor handling, mooring operation, lifting, towing, etc.)
In depth knowledge of barge and semisubmersible’s stability, motion, and mooring.
In depth knowledge of typical marine operations
In depth knowledge of Class rule requirements and industry codes on hull & structure and marine operations
Knowledge of site inspection standards
Knowledge of offshore drilling equipment and process, preferably on tender assisted drilling
Possess skills of structural design and naval architecture design & analysis.
Able to handle engineering tools for structural calculation, stability analysis, hydrodynamics analysis, mooring analysis.
