JOB PURPOSE
As a Manager II in Logistics, you'll oversee and lead various aspects of logistics operations within the organization.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels. Align logistics strategies with overall business objectives and goals.
2. Team Leadership: Lead a team of logistics professionals, including coordinators, supervisors, and support staff. Provide direction, guidance, and mentorship to team members to ensure high performance and productivity.
3. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within logistics operations. Implement best practices, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and efficiency initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.
4. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control processes, including stock replenishment, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy. Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs and stockouts.
5. Transportation Management: Manage transportation activities, including carrier selection, routing, scheduling, and freight negotiation. Optimize transportation costs and service levels to meet customer delivery requirements.
6. Warehousing and Distribution: Direct warehousing and distribution operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of goods. Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space and resources to support operational goals.
7. Supplier and Vendor Management: Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, carriers, and logistics service providers. Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing terms to optimize costs and service levels.
8. Performance Monitoring: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track the performance of logistics operations. Analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to address performance issues and drive continuous improvement.
9. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies related to logistics operations. Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, security threats, and operational issues.
10. Customer Service: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external customers to understand their logistics needs and requirements. Provide responsive and proactive customer service to address inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
