MANAGER, SEA ROV OPERATIONS

This role will be responsible to lead ROV Operations for Total Marine Technology, Malaysia. This role will be reporting to Regional Business Manager  with and functional reporting to Chief Execution Officer (CEO) of Total Marine Technology. Below are the key responsibilities :

 

Main Responsibilities :

  • Planning and managing offshore personnel to ensure that all ROV operational requirements are adequately met on a timely basis;
  • Monitoring the training and competence of all offshore personnel in line with IMCA recommendations and company policies and procedures;
  • Ensuring that employee issues are addressed, and performance problems identified and resolved;
  • Assisting HR with the recruitment process of operations team members;
  • Developing procedures and processes to continuously improve the management and operation of the ROV fleet;
  • Ensuring that ROV systems comply the industry standards (i.e. IMCA) and that regular audits are completed to monitor this status
  • Planning and coordinating effective logistics and mobilisation of ROV systems and other ancillary equipment;
  • Planning the efficient utilisation of the TMT ROVs and specialised tools;
  • Ensuring all equipment returning to the workshop from offshore has a status and maintenance report;
  • Tracking offshore ROV tooling locations and managing equipment returns to the workshop;
  • Reviewing RTPs/technical fault logs from the offshore worksites and determining which items require an engineering/workshop action;
  • Looking for trends in offshore components failure to be passed to engineering manager;
  • Providing feedback to the project group on user comments;
  • Effectively communicating with client representatives to ensure that TMT is providing people and services in line with contractual commitments and client expectations;
  • Checking the operations team member’s timesheets;
  • Management of agreed budgets related to ROV operations, including cost control;
  • Ensuring data is correct for invoicing purposes;
  • Be an active participant in tender preparation;
  • Development of operating budgets
  • Continuously keeping up to date with market trends and opportunities;
  • Assisting in developing strategic outlook for the future growth of TMT;
  • Commercial support activities including formulating strategic business development and action plans, developing client relationships, maintaining the client database, leading commercial aspects of tenders;
  • Conducting other tasks as directed by chief executive officer.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all ROV spreads comply with all Rigs/vessels developed HSE management system plan, IMCA guidelines and local rules and regulations which affect the safety, pollution prevention, security and efficient operations of the ROV.
  • Supporting the HSE Department in monitoring all operations related onshore and offshore non-conformances, accidents, incidents, near misses and any other HSEQ performance reports and ensuring that they are effectively investigated, analyzed and closed out within agreed timelines.
  • Working within and supervising others in the team on TMT OH&S policy, ensuring compliance at all times, and taking appropriate action where required;
  • Managing workflow expectations;
  • Diversity of ROV types and age within the fleet;
  • Geographical spread of the ROV systems;
  • Continuous improvement of company services/product;
  • Cost control and budgeting management
  • Ensuring compliance with all overseas legal and statutory requirements;
  • Updating the technical fault log action register;
  • Updating the open ROV action items list.
  • Purchasing authority limit of AUD $10,000 for operations activities;

Qualifications & Experiences Required :

  • Industry training in subsea equipment operation.
  • ROV supervisor competency or suitable tertiary qualification is desirable.
  • Leadership/management training, with an experience in a management role / part of management team
  • Assessor training is desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in oil and gas industry.
  • Comprehensive experience with ROVs.

Special Requirements :

  • Travel onshore and/or offshore as required will be required for this job description (the team member will need to maintain a valid passport)
  • The team member must be flexible to assist with work offshore or conduct remote work as required (the team member will need to maintain a valid passport)
  • A reasonable amount of overtime may be required in this position
