JOB PURPOSE

As a Lead Logistics Coordinator, you're responsible for overseeing and coordinating logistics activities to ensure the efficient movement of goods and materials within the supply chain.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and direction to a team of logistics coordinators. Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor the performance of team members to ensure that logistics operations run smoothly.
2. Logistics Coordination: Oversee the coordination of inbound and outbound shipments, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution. Ensure that goods are delivered on time and in compliance with customer requirements.
3. Supplier and Vendor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers, vendors, carriers, and freight forwarders. Negotiate rates, contracts, and service agreements to optimize costs and service levels.
4. Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities to maintain optimal stock levels. Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess stock, reduce carrying costs, and prevent stockouts.
5. Transportation Management: Coordinate transportation for shipments, including trucking, air freight, ocean freight, and rail. Arrange for the most cost-effective and efficient transportation methods while meeting customer delivery requirements.
6. Documentation and Compliance: Ensure that all shipping and customs documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with regulations. Verify the accuracy of invoices, bills of lading, and other shipping documents.
7. Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues related to order fulfillment, delivery schedules, and product availability. Provide exceptional customer service to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
8. Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, transportation costs, and customer satisfaction. Analyze data and identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
9. Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks in logistics processes and develop strategies to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
10. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in the logistics process and develop strategies to mitigate them. Proactively address issues such as supply chain disruptions, inventory shortages, and transportation delays.
