Job Purpose / Summary
The HSE Advisor is responsible for supporting Vantris Energy’s HSE strategy and ensuring all operations comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies. The Advisor provides technical guidance, monitoring, advisory, and oversight to help maintain high standards of HSE performance, prevent incidents, and promote a strong safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
The HSE Advisor will:

Regulatory Compliance & Standards
-
Stay updated on all relevant HSE legislation, regulations, standards (local and international as applicable) and ensure company policies and procedures are aligned.

Ensure permits, licenses, approvals are obtained and maintained.

Maintain and update legal register for HSE.

Risk Management
-
Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), HIRARC, HAZID / HAZOP sessions, etc.

Support development of safe work method statements (SWMS / MOS) and permit-to-work systems.

Identify hazards & assess environmental impacts; propose and monitor mitigation/control measures.

Operational Monitoring & Audits
-
Perform site walk-downs, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with HSE standards.

Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure that third-party personnel adhere to Vantris’ HSE requirements.

Follow up on audit findings / non-conformities to ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Incident / Near Miss Investigation

Lead or support investigations of incidents, near misses, environmental spills, non-conformances.
-
Determine root causes, document findings, recommend preventive measures.
-
Maintain incident reporting systems; track actions to close-out.

Training, Awareness & Culture
-
Develop, deliver or coordinate HSE training, toolbox talks, inductions & refreshers.
-
Promote safety awareness and safe behaviours among employees, contractors, visitors.
-
Assist in fostering and reinforcing a strong proactive safety culture (e.g. Stop Work authority, observation & intervention programs).

Environmental Stewardship
-
Ensure environmental management systems (EMS) are adhered to (e.g. waste management, emissions, discharge, spill control).

Monitor environmental performance metrics; ensure compliance with environmental permits and standards.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement
-
Compile HSE performance data (KPIs, metrics), analyze trends, generate reports for management.

Identify areas for improvement; propose programs or initiatives for enhancement of HSE performance.

Support internal/external audits (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or equivalent).

Stakeholder Engagement
-
Interface with authorities, regulatory bodies (e.g. DOSH, DOE, etc.), clients, contractors concerning HSE issues.
-
Participate in safety committees, meetings, and briefings.

Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
-
Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in HSE roles in oil & gas / upstream operations / drilling / production / renewables environments.
-
Solid working experience in risk assessment methodologies (HAZOP, HAZID, HSE audits), incident investigations.
-
Familiarity with relevant Malaysian legal framework (e.g. OSHA 1994, Environmental Quality Act, DOSH, etc.) and international HSE standards.

Certifications including but not limited to NEBOSH (GB or International), OSHA, ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 auditor or implementer are advantageous.

Experience working with contractors, offshore / onshore operations an advantage.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal in English; Bahasa Malaysia as needed).

Proficiency in HSE software/systems, MS Office; ability to prepare reports, dashboards.

Ability to travel to sites / offshore as required.
