JOB PURPOSE
This role responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of instrumentation and electrical systems in oil and gas processing facilities. This includes supporting both routine plant operations and planned/unplanned shutdowns or outages. The role ensures equipment reliability, operational safety, and compliance with industry standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical panels, motors, control systems, instruments, and field devices (e.g., transmitters, control valves, analysers).
• Diagnose and correct faults in instrumentation and low to medium voltage electrical systems.
• Ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.
Shutdowns & Outages
• Participate in major plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages.
• Carry out loop checking, equipment isolation, and recommissioning activities.
• Support electrical and instrumentation overhaul, calibration, and testing during turnarounds.
• Ensure safe and efficient completion of shutdown scopes under tight schedules.
Plant Operations Support
• Provide technical support to operations for troubleshooting process upsets related to instrumentation and controls.
• Assist in system upgrades, equipment replacements, and instrumentation modifications.
• Interface with operations, engineering, and HSE teams during maintenance and project work.
Skills
• Working knowledge of process instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature).
• Experience with calibration tools (HART communicator, loop calibrator).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and electrical schematics is an advantage.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classification and intrinsically safe equipment is an advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, technical manuals.
• Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience in industrial control systems, PLSs, and instrumentation devices with gas turbine (e.g GE, Siemens, or Mitsubishi models).
• Written and oral communication skill.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Safety-conscious with adherence to PTW and LOTO procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork in multicultural environments.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, during outages, or on-call as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3-5 years experience in E&I maintenance activities for rotating equipment (turbo machinery gas turbine, compressor, etc..) in an oil and gas or petrochemical industry with hands-on field experience.
